Day 3 : Mindful Chair Sits and Stands 🪑💪

The Habit: Five times today, practice sitting down and standing up from a chair without using your hands.

This is harder than it sounds, but it’s one of the most functional exercises you can do. Choose a sturdy chair (not too low), and practice sitting down slowly and standing back up without using your hands for help ✋. If you need to use your hands, that’s fine – just use them less than you normally would.

Do this five times throughout the day. Once in the morning 🌅, once mid-morning, once after lunch 🍽️, once mid-afternoon, once in the evening. Spread it out so you don’t get too tired.

Why it works: The ability to get up from a chair without using our hands is a key indicator of leg strength and overall functional fitness. It’s something we take for granted until we can’t do it anymore. Practicing this now maintains and builds the strength you need for independence. Strong legs mean confident movement 💪

Your action step today: Try it right now. Stand in front of a chair, sit down slowly, stand back up without using your hands. How did that feel? Do it five times today, and five times every day this week. You’ll get stronger quickly 🎯
